  • First International SI/M&E Field Officer Orientation, August 2004
    Participants of the Orientation included SI/M&E Field Officers representing 37 countries; representatives from a number of stakeholder agencies, field offices and technical experts in M&E, surveillance and health information systems (HIS). The field officer Orientation was sponsored by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the Office of the U.S Global AIDS Coordinator (O/GAC) agencies: the Department of Health and Human Services/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Global AIDS Program (HHS/CDC/GAP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The overall goals of the Field Officer Orientation were: (1) to familiarize participants with the practice of utilization-focused SI, including M&E, surveillance, and HIS; and, (2) to promote coordination among international partner organizations and SI/M&E Field Officers.

  • SI/M&E Field Officer Regional Meetings, March 2005
    Participants of the Regional Meetings included SI/M&E Field Officers from 10 countries in Southern Africa and from 10 countries in East-West Africa and the Caribbean; representatives from a number of stakeholder agencies and field offices; and technical experts in M&E, surveillance, and HIS. The Regional Meetings were intended to provide follow-up to the Orientation, including networking, information and experience sharing, and technical training sponsored by UNAIDS and OGAC.
